As promised, notes from Friday about promoting traffic to your blog. If you want to write content that attracts people to your blog, check out this post about traffic generating blogging styles (thanks to Mike for the tip).
3 ways of getting your blog's name out there:
1. Network- link your blog to your friends, leave intelligent comments on blogs that you enjoy reading- include a link to your blog. (if we were working on a platform other than blogspot, I'd talk about trackbacks, but they don't work on blogger, so move along...)
2. Use blog directories. There are a number you can look at, Google 'blog directories'or look at the buttons other blogs have in their sidebars.
3. Technorati. Technorati is a tag-based search engine for blogs. Basically, you mark each of your posts with a set of keywords that technorati uses to index your posts. That way, people are able to find relevant posts when they search for specific words.
Finally, to monitor traffic to your blog, I recommend Sitemeter. It's free, it's bearable to look at, and gives you detailed stats about where visitors are coming from, which posts they come to, how long they stay, which country they are from etc.
